Older News
Ghouls Gulch Productions is a Halloween themed production company that specializes in the design, construction, and operation of haunted houses and other Halloween themed events. Our haunt designs blend traditional haunted house techniques with theatrical elements such as detailed sets, quality make-up and costumes, and professional quality audio and lighting. We have made a name for ourselves by producing haunted houses with high entertainment value combined with animatronics and special effects. However, our belief is that our live actors are what really bring fear to our production.
While restructuring in 2006, we found it impossible to stay away from Halloween happenings. We attended the HauntCon convention in Denver. With the relatively close proximity, some of our staff was able to attend. This made the event special to be able to include our haunt family. While attending, we participated in the balcony-decorating contest, winning first place. This past year we had the opportunity to expand our prop inventory by purchasing a haunt that had decided to close its doors.
We stayed actively busy in the community by loaning out props and providing advice to local groups such as the Girl Scouts and schools. We themed a number of private and commercial parties, such as the renowned Meadow Muffins. We also found time to terrorize our neighborhood and helped out our good haunted friends at Mind Seizure haunted house.
OLDER NEWS
The 2007 haunting season has officially begun and the crew of Ghouls Gulch couldn’t be more excited. We are honored to be working with the team from Distortions Unlimited Corporation, the creators of the original Brutal Planet in Denver. We will help bring to life five new haunts as part of Scare Fair (www.goscarefair.com). We will be assisting with the build and providing our professional sound and lighting. Michele, our stage manager, will be training the new actors and will have thirteen of our best actors with her. Come join us on opening night and meet Alice Cooper. We look forward to seeing you at any of these five haunts. Have a great Halloween and support your favorite haunts!!
2008—Look for Ghouls Gulch to return to Colorado Springs with an all new show with effects and animations never before seen in a Colorado Springs haunt!!
EVEN OLDER NEWS
On April 28th, Rocky Point Haunted House in Salt Lake City, Utah held their final auction. This award-winning haunt closed their doors after 25 years. The auction drew haunters from all over the country hoping to buy a piece of haunt history. Ghouls Gulch was there also. We were hoping to buy a few large pieces, but two buyers with deep pockets bought a lot of the haunt. We were, however, able to purchase a few small items. And as Cydney said hopefully the spirit of Rocky Point will travel with us.
Ghouls Gulch goes on tour with the Police. Well, it’s official! Patrick Lively, our sound and lighting director, is going on tour with Sting and the Police. Patrick will be part of the road crew for the stadium dates of the U.S. tour. If all goes well, he will continue on the European leg of the tour. We wish Pat all our best in his travels.
STILL EVEN OLDER NEWS
Just recently we conspired with our haunted cohorts at the TransWorld Halloween convention in Chicago where we took 2nd place in the IAHA casket basket charity auction. Currently we are in negotiations for a new location for this year’s haunted attraction.
On March 21, 2007 Pat, Mike, and Marlene spoke for the Kiwanis Club of Colorado Springs. Dressed in full costume, they presented a history of the haunted attraction industry and the many different aspects of Ghouls Gulch Productions. Included in the presentation was footage of past attractions and publicity spots from local TV news coverage. The presentation was well received by members of the Kiwanis club, with the group being asked to return for an encore presentation. They were in good company presenting to this club, as recent speakers have included Colorado congressman Joel Hefley and Air Force head basketball coach Jeff Bzdelik.
